WWW Wednesday is a weekly book meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words. The Ws are the following questions:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you plan on reading next?
So let’s get right into it!
📖 Female General and Eldest Princess by 请君莫笑 — fan translation online // yep still reading this! It’s 170+ chapters so it’s no wonder I’m not done yet, but I have “only” about 50 chapters to go and I’m at a point where Things Are Happening. I’m so glad this was fully translated in time for #FFFeb because it’s great and I can’t stop reading. This had made me emotional a lot of times so far and I can’t wait to finish it and then have a massive book hangover.
By the way, I’ve now mentioned this book a few times but what I forgot to say is that the author gave permission to the fan translators to translate it, so there’s nothing illegal (?) about it. You can find links and info here, on where to read the translation and how to support the original novel where it was originally posted.
📖 Steel Crow Saga by Paul Krueger — physical copy // I finished the audiobook of this last week. I bought the physical copy. I started rereading it immediately again. It’s That Good.
📖 Lesbisch für Anfängerinnen; Willkommen in der WG! by Celia Martin — physical copy // this was a book I bought to read more in German and I thought I’d never read it if I didn’t start it during #FFFeb, so here I am. I’ve only read one chapter so far and first of all I think the pages are formatted too uncomfortably for my tastes (the margins are to narrow and each line of the book ends up being really long, making it difficult for me to stay focused), and there’s also the fact that I don’t really know how to read physical copies in general anymore (don’t laugh at me). Then I also don’t think it’s written superbly, but then again German and English writing styles are very different and it might just be that I’m not used to it. But I’m taking it slow and trying to just read a few pages each day so we’ll see if I manage to finish it somehow (probably after February has ended, but still).
📘 Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu — audible production // this was uh. interesting. It’s sort of the first classic lesbian vampire story and the audible production was really good, with a full cast including David Tennant. I took a glance at the ebook and I know I wouldn’t have liked it as much if it wasn’t for this edition (which actually made me b l u s h !!)
📘 If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try, Try Again by Zen Cho — free read online // this novellette was in my TBR but I forgot about it being F/F and when I noticed I immediately read it. It’s a lovely story about an imugi trying for millennia to become a dragon and when it turns into a human it takes a female form (hence the f/f), and it’s about not feeling like a failure for not succeeding, as long as you keep trying, and how sometimes you do need a little help from someone else who can see the potential in you. It was lovely and I’m curious to check out more by the author. You can read this novellette here!
📕 This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone — audiobook // I realized I finished all the audiobooks I had on my FFFeb TBR so I bought a few more (I needed to spend my credits anyway) and this will be the first one I’m starting. I’m so excited as I’ve only heard good things!
