The Stuck at Home Book Tag

I was tagged by my friend Laura and since I’m, well, stuck at home, this was the perfect tag to do [insert uncomfortable laughter here]. Thank you so much Laura, and Ellyn for coming up with the tag!

The questions

1) What are you currently reading?

49454725

2) What’s your favorite “can’t-leave-the-house” activity?

Depending on the mood I like to cook, watch queer shows or uhm, read? I guess? Except I’m in a slump so I’m not really reading much, other than audiobooks. I also do yoga when I remember that I inhabit a physical body, and I started baking a few very simple things (which is fine since I’ve never really been much into baking) aaaaand that’s pretty much it, I don’t have a favorite activity.

3) A book you’ve been meaning to read for forever

11672159

So many, the first one that came to mind is The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer (sapphic Hades and Persephone retelling!!)

4) An intimidating book on your TBR

70897

The Secret History by Donna Tartt! Everyone is always so emotional about it and I’m scared. I also found it really cheap in a used bookstore so I have a physical copy, but I hate reading physical books so that intimidates me as well.

5) Top 3 priority books on your TBR

Those would be my ARCs, specifically the ones that have already come out or are going to come out soon: The State of Us by Shaun David Hutchinson, The Mermaid, the Witch and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall and Dangerous Remedy by Kat Dunn

6) Recommend a short book

39962903

7) Recommend a long book

Am I too me if I say MDZS (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation — read my guide here) or TGCF (Heaven Official’s Blessing)? They’re 1500 to 2000 pages long and they’re my two favorite books.

8) Something you’d love to do while stuck at home

dav
please look at her, I’m crying

Honestly, I only want to be able to cuddle my cat. But she’s 1000km away, so…

9) What do you plan on reading next?

52381770._sx318_sy475_

Other than the ARCs I mentioned before, Network Effect by Martha Wells because I miss Murderbot.

  1. Thanks for tagging me!
I think The Dark Wife was the first sapphic story I deliberately reached for? Because it was free, so it didn’t feel as scary of a thing to do. I liked it, but as it was 2016 who knows if it holds up. I hope you like it!
And I’m curious about Dangerous Remedy, mostly because I haven’t seen any reviews yet (but, you know. YA fantasy).

    Also!!! cat!

    1. ohhh the First Intentional Sapphic Book is always a bit emotional! I haven’t read it yet simply because from the ratings it seems a little average but still it makes me really curious.
Dangerous Remedy scares me (YA historical fantasy….ouch) but the few people I’ve seen talk about it highly praise it so I’m really hoping to like it!

      YES CAT ♥♥♥

  2. Everyone has been talking about MDZS lately but I did //NOT// know it was that long and it scares me. Also, The State of Us looks amazing and I’m so excited for it! I read Shaun David Hutchinson’s YA 2019 release and it was a bit disappointing but I need to get through his backlist.

    1. It is so long but so worth it! I would 100% recommend you start with the webcomic or the anime first though, it makes it so much easier to follow the novel.
I love Shaun David Hutchinson’s books even though I still haven’t read some of the ones that people seem to be more disappointed by, but I am confident I will love The State of Us ♥

Thank you for nominating me!! I’m trying to catch up on tags but it will probably be a while for me to answer that ❤
