So, what are “LGBTQIAP+ books that don’t feature allocis m/m relationships”, and why this list?

I started this series two years ago when I felt like both I and my timeline were more focused on m/m romance than the other shades of the rainbow. A lot has changed in the past two years and I’m now at a point where I can comfortably say I read hardly any m/m and most of the books on my TBR (both backlist and anticipated) are queer but not necessarily m/m. This is true for my timeline (twitter and wordpress) as well, but I am aware there are still too many people who think that reading “LGBT” just means reading (and often fetishizing) m/m romance.

Since I don’t often do recommendation posts and I still like this format I wanted to update this series with the books I truly feel like recommending, I won’t go into details for each but I tried to state the specific rec when it was labelled in the book, but please let me know if I misremembered something.

Human Enough by E.S. Yu – paranormal m/m romance, Chinese-American autistic pansexual MC and ace gay love interest

[I really haven’t read a lot of M/M in the past year in general so I also inevitably only have one not allocis M/M rec this time]

  1. This list is very helpful as I still have a lot to learn! I need more f/f on my tbr list. I have a few of these that you’ve listed already on it like Sorcery of Thorns and The Murderbot Diaries. The Deep and The Prince and the Dressmaker were really good reads.

  2. I enjoyed this series and definitely am happy you continue it!! I want to diversify my reading too and read more queer books that aren’t m/m. Right now I’m following Reads Rainbow blog for more queer rec and of course your blog too!! Thank you for this awesome rec post, Silvia 💜💜

  3. Silvia! This post makes me SO HAPPY!! Thank you for putting together this list! I’ve never heard of The Unconquered City before and it looks awesome! We need books with more nonbinary/genderqueer/trans+ characters!! I also love the whole “no romance section” because so often we only get queer stories when they’re in love. Seeing so many great works here is so precious and I just expanded my TBR shelf!

    1. ahhh i’m so glad you enjoyed this post!! the “no romance” section is something i’m really glad to see expand every time i do this type of posts! seeing how queer characters get to exist and be queer without necessarily needing a love interest is so great, i hope i can find more novels like that ♥ i’m so glad you found something new for your TBR, i hope you’ll enjoy them whenever you get to them ♥
