I’m joining SapphicAThon!

SapphicAThon is a readathon created by Tasha @catsandpaperbacks and co-hosted by AmelieEliseJamieson, and Miriam.

It’s all about reading books where the main character is involved in a F/F romance (it can’t be a side romance!) and it runs from December 14th to December 28th of your timezone.

This post is kind of late because I wasn’t sure that I would have time to participate, but since I’m flying home for the holidays it looks like I will (hopefully) get a lot of reading time.

Even if you aren’t sure you can participate, I still encourage you to look at Tasha’s post because it comes with a ton of F/F recs.

Kind of side note, but people, it’s not enough to complain that there aren’t many F/F romances out there and do nothing about it. The books are there and they’re getting published and they’re often by marginalized authors and it’s everyone’s job to find them and boost them the same way M/M romances are. I myself know that I need to do better in this regard and participating in this readathon is hopefully a step forward in this sense.

If you do decide to participate and need some extra sense of accomplishment, you can look at the bingo board below. It has challenges that can help you decide which books you want to read, and you don’t have to get a bingo but it’s an added bonus if you want to challenge yourself more.

I myself don’t know exactly how many books I’m going to be able to read. I am a slow reader after all and I have a few things I need to do before Christmas, other than spending time with my family obviously, but I decided that no matter how many books I’ll manage to read, it will still be better than not participating.

I will probably make a quick TBR post next week to help me stick to it and I’ll also try to link a few other rec threads/posts that I found over the months to help you find even more F/F books.

Let me know if you will participate and make sure that if you’re on twitter you follow along with #SapphicAThon and follow the official account @wlwreadathon. I will probably make a thread in order to track my progress during the challenge so if you want you can follow me there too and laugh at me when I fail (just kidding, there is no failing 💪🏻).

Happy Pride Month!

This is a really quick post, I’m in a slump and even when I read books I don’t have time to/don’t feel like writing reviews (I’m really sorry), BUT I wanted to say I’m going to challenge myself to only read LGBTQ+ books this month (it’s not such a drastic change from what I usually read anyway so it doesn’t even feel like a challenge to be honest).

I also made a goodreads shelf with books I’ve read that have good rep (or at least rep that I found good). If it’s a series, I only added book one so it’s less cluttered. I’ll keep adding to the list throughout the month as I read stuff (again, I don’t know how many books I’ll read since this is a big slump and I’m busy with other things), but at the end of the month I’ll probably just change its name and keep it.

So feel free to snoop around that shelf and I hope you’ll all try to read more queer books always but especially this month! (I haven’t looked around if there’s some kind of official challenge for this, I just want to make it a very chill thing for me because I can’t deal with more serious challenges now, but anyone is free and welcome to join me)

Also not book related but everyone go watch Yuri!!! On Ice if you haven’t ♥

Tome Topple Readathon: November 18th to December 1st

Later this week I’ll participate in my first readathon! It’s probably a tough one to start with because it’s all about those big books (>500 pages). But I figured I might as well join it since there are two books on my Kindle that fit the requirement for the readathon and that I really want to read.

I found this readathon watching Samantha @ThoughtsOnTomes and Adriana @perpetualpages‘s announcement videos, as they are two of the hosts for the event.
Here’s the description on the goodreads group:

The next round of the Tome Topple Readathon will take place from midnight in your time zone on November 18th to 11:59pm in your time zone on December 1st!
The whole point of this readathon is to read big books (over 500 pages). You don’t even need to read a lot of them. You don’t even need to finish one. The point is that we are all reading those big daunting books at the same time and supporting each other.

This group will feature discussion boards about some of the more popular book choices for the readathon, as well as some suggestions for any of you struggling with which tome to read.

Definitely keep in touch using the hashtag #tometopple on all social media and following @tome_topple on twitter.

Topple those Tomes!

They also announced some challenges that might help you decide what books to read or just give you some more motivation:

1. Read more than 1 tome
2. Read a graphic novel
3. Read a tome that’s part of a series
4. Buddy read a tome (use goodreads and twitter to find buddies!)
5. Read an adult novel

Personally I will be fulfilling four out of five of those challenges (provided I can read both books I have in mind), so I’m really excited.

The books I chose are The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch and The Demon King by  Cinda Williams Chima.

If you want to partake in this readathon you should definitely join the goodreads group and make sure you follow the hashtag #tometopple on twitter and instagram so you find other people that read your same book(s).

I really hope I can complete both books in that time. Are you planning on participate? What tomes would you like to topple?
